November News Update

Hi there!
Want to make sure all my backers get a progress update. This is from my November newsletter, if you'd like to sign up for more regular news and announcements, sign up here.
Hello, Connoisseurs of Cuisine!
I write this update from one of my favorite cafes in Portland, 2 Stroke Coffee Co., overlooking the St. Johns Bridge and watching the marigold-yellow maple leaves dance in the wind. I highly recommend the Jalapeno & Salmon Cream Cheese Spread on a Garlic Bagel if you happen to stop by. The past month I've focused on hunkering down, spending as much time as I can illustrating cards and making cozy food for me and my husband. Soup season is one of my favorites!
I've also been preparing for a big, exciting adventure. Later this month I'm heading to India! If you didn't know, my husband was born and raised in the city of Bhubaneswar, India and his parents still live there. This will be my first-ever trip outside of North America and my first time meeting most of my in-laws. I dream of the mountain of pani puris I'll gulp down, and all the incredible curry I'm about to enjoy. Since my in-laws weren't able to attend our American wedding, we're also having a small wedding reception by Indian standards while we're there. Just an intimate gathering of my in-law's 700 closest friends, co-workers, neighbors and family!
I'm excited to share photos and stories with you all when we get back in December. Until then, I hope you can join me for the November Board Game Bash, and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Cheers!
Jordan Mishra Johnson

Nearly 200 Illustrations Done!
See the latest batch here.
Have you ever heard the old saying: How do you eat and elephant? One bite at a time.
It's the phrase that I keep repeating to myself as I sit down every night to open up Photoshop on my tablet and begin work on a new card illustration. Sometimes it feels like an impossible task to complete these 323 cards, but it's also an amazing accomplishment to look back at my progress and realize I'm nearly 2/3s of the way there. So, for all you data nerds out there, here's where artwork progress currently sits:
Total illustration progress: 191/323 (59.13% done)
Ingredients: 110/170 (64.71% done)
Dishes: 27/99 (27.27% done)
Special Occasions: 54/54 (100% done)
Definitely on-track to get you all the core game by this time next year!
No-Fuss Snappy Salad
For November, I'm sharing my go-to simple salad recipe that can be thrown together for a quick, satisfying, and nourishing lunch, or as a crowd-pleasing side dish to accompany your holiday spread.
This recipe is a favorite of mine because most of the ingredients can be kept on hand for awhile without worry that something will go bad in the fridge. So it's hearty dish I can toss it together in a pinch and keep the ingredients as part of our pantry staples.
Dressing
1 cup plain yogurt
1/2 cup nutritional yeast
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon garlic powder
Directions: mix all ingredients together in a bowl
Salad
5-8 oz. package of arugala - or - 1 head of Kale (chopped)
1 can of garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed
1 can of pickled beets, drained
1/2 cup of almonds, chopped
1 apple, chopped/cubed
Directions: If you're using kale, make sure you use your hands to really scrunch up the leaves under water before you chop it up. It's called massaging the kale and makes the leaves way more tender and appetizing when you go to eat.
Otherwise, just take all your salad ingredients and toss in a big bowl. Add the dressing and make sure to coat your salad generously. Can be made ahead, covered, and stored in the fridge for a day, or eaten immediately.
Prototype Packs are ready to ship!

Howdy friends!
Big update, I officially have the updated Prototype Packs back from the printer and I can start shipping them out to backers. So, if you haven't filled out your BackerKit survey (which should be in your email inbox), now is a great time to fill it out so I can get your products to you. Please reach out if you have any questions.
I will begin to arrange drop-offs for local backers for the weekend of October 6th, 7th, and 8th.
With this fresh batch of Prototype Packs, I have gone through and updated the rules/instructions to make them easier to read, simpler to understand, and more fun to play. I also created a new Ingredient Glossary so folks now have a resource to reference if you don't know what an ingredient is.
You can watch the Instagram video below where I talk about all the little fine-tuning details.
I'm so excited to hear about your game nights and the meals you come up with! This is seriously a dream come true and I'm sooooo excited to share the joy of Drawn Hungry with you.
Cheers!

Surveys are on their way!

Howdy folks!
I'm excited to share that Backerkit surveys are on their way!
These surveys will help me gather everyone's shipping information, collect shipping fees + sales tax, arrange for free local deliveries for folks located in the Greater Portland area, and make sure that I can keep your information up-to-date through next year when the core games are shipped out.
Backerkit also provides me with the capability to offer additional add-ons. So if you decide you want to pre-order another copy of the core game, or your friend really wants a prototype pack for themselves, the Backerkit store will be the designated spot to get all your Drawn Hungry goodies.
I just sent out surveys to a few backers as a test to make sure everything is running smoothly, so if you were one of the lucky few to already get your survey, please fill that out as soon as possible.
Otherwise, just keep an eye on your inbox and you'll receive your survey here in the next day or two.
Cheers!

Thank You + Next Steps

Howdy friends,
Thank you for making Drawn Hungry a reality! A few things need to happen before I can kick off production and fulfillment.
Here's a quick rundown:
First, Kickstarter needs to transfer over the funds so I have the money to make the rewards (this can take up to two weeks).
Second, I need to finish the core game artwork and send the final game off for manufacturing. I'm also going to make a few updates to the prototype pack rules for an even better playing experience and have new packs printed.
Third, I need to find out where to ship everything. I'm going to send out a BackerKit survey to collect this information.
I’ll give you a heads-up before I send the survey so that you can watch for it. You don’t need to create a BackerKit account to answer your survey. The invitation email contains a link to your personal survey. It is important to submit your responses as quickly as you can since I need this information to process your rewards.
If you need to change your survey responses, purchase add-on items, or update your shipping information, you can click the link in your survey email again or request your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page. (This page will only start working after I send the surveys out.)
Answering your survey helps me get your rewards out to you faster. BackerKit helps me save lots of time by streamlining the survey process, automating data organization, and providing me with pledge management software to make it easy to process your pledge reward shipments.
If you used your Facebook credentials to log in to your Kickstarter or BackerKit account, the BackerKit survey link is sent to the email address you use for your Facebook account. If you have another email address that you prefer to use, please contact me.
Again, thanks for all your support. I can’t wait to send you your prototype pack, core game, and special occasion illustration art prints.
Cheers!

6 Days and $6.5K to Reach Our Goal!

Howdy friends, family, backers, and future head chefs!
I'm so grateful for all your support. I feel like jumping for joy knowing there are 65 of you out there who believe in Drawn Hungry and are excited to see it out in the world.
It's a perfect game for creating conversation across generations, hanging out with your homies at a local watering hole, turning a dinner party into a memorable special occasion, or heck, even getting teenagers to think there's something kind of fun about cooking. (Drawn Hungry has the grumpy teen stamp of approval, I've witnessed it myself several times now and it feels like I won over the toughest crowd possible every time.)
We're in the backstretch of the campaign, and I know it seems like $6.5K a lot, but I also know there's power in community. I'm doing everything I can to make sure this campaign is a success. From setting up a table and demoing the game at local art markets & grocery stores here in Portland, to driving across town to drop off prototype packs at bars/cafes where people might play it, to staying up late and posting on board game related Discord channels- I'm putting in the leg work to get those pledges.
Since Kickstarter is an all or nothing campaign, I'm required to raise the full $15,000 in order to receive any of the funds already pledges, or hand out all the fun rewards you've selected.
Ways you can support Drawn Hungry:
Are you able to increase your pledge to help me get closer to my goal? I've added in new end-of-campaign rewards, so you can add on a prototype pack for $10, or maybe get another core game for $30 as a gift for someone special who you know will love Drawn Hungry. I've also got unique fun rewards like create your own custom card, and getting an exclusive, one-of-a-kind special occasion art print.
You can also support by helping to spread the word! Share this post to your story on Instagram and add the Kickstarter link so folks can make a pledge: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/drawn-hungry/drawn-hungry-play-like-a-chef
For those of you who have played Drawn Hungry already, even a review on BoardGameGeeks.com is a huge help.
Every single pledge counts right now and I greatly appreciate all the support! Thank you so much for being a part of this journey and helping me make my Drawn Hungry dream come true.
Love,
Jordan
